Easy pita bread (no yeast)

The first time did this was years ago, pita bread places were the rage at the time but there wasn’t anything close to us so we tried to make our own. It’s very simple and it suits well when you don’t have yeast in the house - or don’t want to make your own like it’s 2020.

Recipe

  • Yield: 4 small pita breads
  • Preparation time: 01:00
  • Cooking time: 00:15

Ingredients

  • 250 grams - Flour
  • 1 teaspoon - Salt
  • 2 teaspoon - Olive oil
  • 150 milliliters - Water
  • Sesame seeds

Steps

  1. Combine flour, salt, olive oil and water in a large bowl
  2. Knead until you get a smooth, soft and sturdy dough
  3. Cover the bowl and allow to rest for 40 minutes at room temperature
  4. Divide the dough into 4 equally sized balls. Roll the dough into 1cm high discs (they won't rise so adjust the height to your taste)
  5. Brush with water, sprinkle the seeds and put in a paper-lined backing sheet
  6. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 200°C for 15 minutes or when you feel the dough is cooked
  7. eat!
